This is an ongoing social engagement project for the service users at Ashford's Kent County Council, Community Service.
Due to the Government's Covid guideline for vulnerable members of the community to self isolate, Lorrain provides with Craig Newman 'step by step' online streaming and videos for use in the home.
The aim is to include and make the service users feel part of the community through projects that focus on celebrating national events and ones that are important to Ashford's local inhabitants.
For the Chinese New Year, the sign of the rat, the service users at Gateway, were encouraged to experience a tactile sensation through rolling, wrapping and moulding the icing to make sugar mice/rats. While to feel a part of the annual Chinese Lantern Festival, service users at Gateway were supported to fold, cut and overlap coloured paper to increase their coordination and hand dexterity. |
Since March the monthly focus has been on self sufficiency.
