Kaleidoscope Gallery, Sevenoaks, United Kingdom Echo's Studio, Sao Paulo, Brazil 9-19 October 2024 Compact discs known as jewels, have been reappropiated from domestic waste found in charity shops which have then had to be dismantled, sterilised and reassembled. 28 jewels make up an open sided cube and like Lego, they can be assembled to differing heights. Over 100 artworks, all within 12 x 12 x 12cm were donated by artists from around the world. These were hidden among and within the jewelled cases. Visitors had to spend time, like on a treasure hunt to seek and find the work. In the process, the value of the plastic plinths hopefully conveyed a positive message that simple solutions can be found to repurpose our abanded plastic waste. This project was a natural progression on from Within the Limitations. Again this was run on Instagram and through Curator Space from International Dance day 29 April to World Heart day, 29 September 2024. Shown at the Kaleidoscope gallery, Sevenoaks, with images simultaneously being shown in Sao Paulo, Brazil through Artly Mix and visa versa in the UK with their open call submissions over Restart a Heart day 16 October 2024. |
