Message in a Bottle
From Easter 2020 anyone could participate in an artwork at St Mary’s. The aim was to offer a simple way to elevate anxiety and offer a way to regain a positive mental outlook during Lockdown.
Simply scribble a message, anything that empowers you to let go. Its anonymous so just let out your frustrations, fears, anger or perhaps you have something good to shout about from the last 12 months. Put that message into a clear plastic bottle and drop it into the willow structure that can be found in the church porch. It’s an ancient custom to leave messages, marks or drawings as it was considered a positive way to breathe out negativity. It is also an appeal to be rescued and reconnected like an island castaway reaching out with a message in a bottle. Artwork installed by Ali Lees. |
