Spring comes after Winter
A challenge from Craig Newman to make a piece of art from the ‘toot’ he had from his father’s workshop, within an hour.
The corroded sheet of metal, took 30 minutes to polish back to steel, then gently bent to formulate a foetus which then was wrapped in scraps of linen.
There is a strong biblical reference; father, son and homosexual, contained through the process of making and all within a time frame. The cyclical event of birth to death to life, is like the inhaling and exhaling of breath, where every particle folds into another life or death.
This was part of a community activity to convey through participation, the cyclical process in life as a way to encourage hope in a year of covid through Instagram.
